2. Newsletter sign-up (“Get notified about new lessons”)
When you sign up for notifications, we process your email address together with the date and time of your sign-up and confirmation.
- Purpose: to email you when a new lesson is published.
- Legal basis: your explicit consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
- Double opt-in: after signing up you receive an email with a confirmation link. Your address is only added to the list once you click that link, which confirms the sign-up was genuinely made by you.
- Retention: we keep your address until you withdraw your consent (unsubscribe), after which it is deleted from the list.
- Withdrawal: you can withdraw your consent at any time with future effect. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, or you can simply email the address above. Withdrawing does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
3. Processor (email delivery)
We use MailerLite (operated by MailerLite Limited / UAB “MailerLite”, EU) to send the newsletter. MailerLite processes your email address on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Processing may also take place on servers outside the EU; where it does, appropriate safeguards (EU Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place. See MailerLite’s own privacy policy for details.
4. Local storage of your progress
Quiz scores and completed lessons are stored only locally in your browser (localStorage). This data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to us, and can be removed at any time by clearing your browser data.
5. Cookie consent / settings
Your choice in the cookie banner (for example “Reject optional”, “Accept all”, or a custom selection) is stored locally in your browser so we can respect your preference on future visits. This consent record is currently not logged on our server.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” button on the page.
6. Hosting
This website is delivered via Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit, technically necessary server log data (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, the URL requested, and your browser's user agent) is processed as far as required for the secure and stable operation of the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare processes this data as a processor on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR). Processing may also take place on servers in the USA; appropriate safeguards are in place for this (EU Standard Contractual Clauses; Cloudflare is additionally certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework).
7. Donations via PayPal
Donations are offered via a direct link to PayPal (provider: PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22-24 Boulevard Royal, 2449 Luxembourg). A connection to PayPal is only established when you actively click that donation link. In that case, your IP address is transmitted to PayPal and PayPal may set its own cookies/tracking technologies. If you actually make a donation, PayPal processes the necessary payment data under its own responsibility. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in funding the project (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and/or performance of the contract with PayPal (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). 8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have, in particular, the right to:
- access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16) and erasure (Art. 17),
- restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20),
- withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7(3)),
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Austria, the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
